The Analytics Leader will collaborate closely with front-line managers to come up with original answers to today’s business problems. In order to leverage data and drive improvement, we are looking for candidates who are curious about data, can connect with our business partners, and can complete a project from beginning to end by gathering business requirements, collaborating with all project participants, and delivering results to the stakeholder without much supervision from a manager.
The Operational Analytics team is at the center of Delta’s data strategy, which has completely changed the way the company conducts business. The team uses a variety of analytical techniques to deliver forward-looking insight to business leaders by leveraging the data environment. You’ll have the ability to lead creative analyses using both structured and unstructured data, highlighting potential growth areas along the way.
Responsibilities:.
- Ensure the safety of all operational processes and procedures.
- Keep the success of our team and business partners as our top priority and adopt a “team first” mentality.
- Understand the business operation and how the data is able to represent the performance or processes.
- Find and collect data from a variety of sources for analysis, models, and project development.
- Use descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytical techniques to highlight business challenges, potential solutions, and relevant tradeoffs.
- Utilize new technologies and decide on effective and insightful ways to communicate data and analysis to meet divisional needs.
- Develop and improve automated reports, analyses, or dashboards to support senior divisional leaders and the front-line employees.
- Be able to cater tools to each audience appropriately.
- Create a relationship of trust with the business teams to become a valuable thought partner.
- Support process improvement and project management engagements for both solitary business units and cross-divisional projects.
- Present findings and recommendations to OAP and divisional leaders.
- Train and mentor other team members in various skillsets and subjects.
- Be intellectually curious, ask questions and speak up when they have an idea.
- Be independent workers who look for problems to solve, come up with innovative ideas, and drive implementation of solutions.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS).
- Candidates for this position should have at a minimum a high school diploma/GED.
- 5+ years of experience in analysis, information science, data visualization, or other relevant quantitative field preferred.
- Successful candidates will have familiarity and/or experience with some or all of the following: SQL, SAS, R, Tableau or other database interface tools and languages.
- Strong experience with Tableau and/or other data visualization tools .
- Ability to write complex queries, joining data from multiple sources and working with large, messy datasets, to arrive at operational insights.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously and manage multiple requests with varying timelines.
- Ability to thoughtfully engage and develop team members .
- Must be a strong team player, detail oriented, and perform well under pressure.
- Convey a professional image with ability to lead, manage, and communicate multiple levels within the organization.
- Strong self-starter with a resilient, solution minded approach to complex problems.
