DESCRIPTION:

From order processing and logistics optimization to machine learning and AI, the Data Infrastructure team at Wayfair is in charge of the core technologies that support a cutting-edge e-commerce business and exceptional customer experience. We’re looking for a smart, enthusiastic, and curious manager who wants to help us grow our database platforms.

You will have the opportunity to utilize your skills to mentor and develop a team of Database Reliability Engineers to support existing database technologies that are fundamental to Wayfair’s business and transition them to support the next evolution of the database platforms here at Wayfair. This will be possible due to the broad range of technologies we use and the scale at which our systems operate.  We should talk if you are skilled in managing a team of highly skilled engineers, passionate about working in a fast-paced environment, and fascinated by engineering extremely large deployments of high-volume systems.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage a team of Database Reliability Engineers to operate a petabyte-scale database environment in a public cloud Provide coaching, mentoring, and other development methods to ensure that all direct reports produce high-quality work and continue to advance in their careers Meet regularly with direct reports to learn about their work experience and identify obstacles to ensure that they do not impede their progress.
• As a leader for impactful production incidents, you will be responsible for driving collaboration, resolution, identification of root cause, and changes required to prevent future occurrences.
• You will also participate in and manage on-call and production support rotations to support and troubleshoot database issues off-hours and during promotional events.
• You will ensure sufficient self-service offerings are available for frictionless engineering engagement on all database deployment tasks.
