DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can use their extensive knowledge of software development, data structures, and distributed systems to create high-quality, scalable, and robust data ecosystems that support the entire segment and power the interactions and experiences that make our Guests feel like they are part of a magical experience. You will implement and contribute to the enhancement of our engineering practices and strategy as a senior-level individual contributor.

Within the Technology & Digital for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products organization, this position is located in the Data Products & Platform division.
It collaborates closely with company-wide technical experts and segment engineers.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and other partners to make proposals across teams regarding their engineering work and practices. Design low-level implementation details of software, such as which data structures, class/function/code organization, etc. Design and implement reliable, high-throughput, low latency, scalable, and well-documented code to tackle complex algorithms and build components of cloud infrastructures.

Proactively seek opportunities to reuse or generalize existing services and implementations; Know the most recent new technologies and best approaches in the field of data management and software engineering; Provide technical mentorship and guidance to other team members; Conduct code review pull-requests with consistent scrutiny; Propose technical implementation approaches that support architectural changes that address scaling and performance issues. Qualifications:

Expert level coder, able to develop solutions that solve sophisticated problems while keeping in mind code space and time complexity Strong experience in Python development and DevOps practices, such as: CI/CD, Docker, automation, testing, and experience crafting and implementing solutions using AWS services, with at least a basic understanding of the following: Experience with infrastructure-as-code, such as: IAM, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, and SNS Knowledge of the trade-offs between various data storage systems and architectures (data warehouses, SQL vs. NoSQL, partitioning, etc.) in at least one of the following languages: Typescript, Java, or another strongly typed language

Education Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in a field related to computer science, engineering, or information technology is preferred.
