What you’ll do…
This position can be located in any of our offices (primary locations are San Bruno, CA, Hoboken, NJ and Bentonville, AR) and will also consider remote candidates.
The eCommerce Growth & Innovation team leverages data, algorithms and analytics to optimize and automate all of Walmart’s eCommerce: merchandising operations, site content, search and more. Our team is committed to improving site performance with actionable data-backed insights and increasing Walmart sales growth. We are looking for a strong leader with a good understanding of data science / data analytics concepts and business acumen.
You will blow our mind if…
- Creative Problem Solver: Someone who can operate with minimal direction. Constant monitoring of the business and identification of new opportunities with proposed solutions. You’ll ask the right questions and think about how to solve the problem with the limited resources available. Know when to trade long-term outlook for short-term gains and vice versa.
- Model Development: Strong background in data science and can build and manage some of the development and implementation of data models/algorithms. Focus on projects within a business area or category to drive concept verification and prototype, implement algorithms, and monitor and improve performance.
- Data Storytelling: Helps prepare and deliver simple, compelling data-driven presentations to communicate analytics stories to cross-functional partners to gain consensus and typically pitch work to senior analytics leadership.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop performance monitoring framework and drive continuous improvement of models/algorithms.
- Collaboration: Identify use cases across the organization (e.g. categories, customer service, supply chain operation) and partners with senior analytics leadership to develop and implement strategies and anticipate future trends and analytics.

- Innovate and challenge existing processes and ways of working; improve and identify new solutions
- Accelerate and enable growth by developing algorithms that can scale across the site and deliver value to our customers

Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years relevant experience in roles with responsibility for applied data science initiatives, data pipeline development and cloud big data management (GCP/Hive/BQ)
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., engineering, business, mathematics, operations research) preferred.
- Proven ability to solve large-scale enterprise data operations problems that require cross-functional collaboration to develop, implement and adopt solutions.
